What is coaching?

Every coach has their own approach to coaching. I see coaching as a supportive guided conversation to empower and enable you to reach your goals or explore challenges you might be facing. As a coach I will not be looking to advise you, but with permission I will challenge you and encourage you to consider how you can make empowered decisions to help you explore your future.

How can I help?

Feeling stuck with your career? Feeling unsure about your next steps? Struggling with a relationship? Trying to reach a goal? Finding it hard to make a decision?

If any of these scenarios sound familiar then coaching might be helpful. But more generally coaching can help explore any opportunity, goal or challenge that you are facing but it can also be more exploratory in nature to help you reach a comfortable resolution.

I have worked with a range of clients who have wanted to explore their career, relationships, goals and blockers in life. If I sound like the right coach for you then I am open to working with you. But it is important that you feel comfortable with me as a coach, as each coach will have their own approach.

Clarity, resilience and empowerment

Through coaching I aim to leave you feeling more empowered, resilient and with a greater sense of clarity. I do this through listening, asking powerful questions and with permission challenging you to help you untangle your thoughts and feel more confident in your decision making for the future.

How is coaching different from mentoring or counselling?

The boundaries between different helping professions such as mentoring and therapy can seem blurry. But for me it is important to be clear that as a coach I am not looking to advise you, nor will I necessarily have the industry expertise of a mentor. I believe you are the expert on yourself and as a coach I aim to help unlock your potential, rather than lecture you on the right course of action.

Many people have tried to draw distinctions between coaching and counselling and for some people the boundaries can seem fuzzy particularly when we consider the person as a whole person. However, typically coaching will be more forward looking and will not seek to help with traumatic feelings or deeply emotional topics. That is not to say that emotions don’t come into coaching, but it is important that I act within my competency range and as I am not a qualified therapist if the topic is heading into that territory I will flag this.
